Year 7 and 8 students attend technology at Cullinane College for 2 hours every week where they have access to specialist teachers in 5 different options.

Tuia Challenge

Strands: The metaphor for all skills and experiences we have had.
Our Year 7 and 8 students are involved in the Tuia Challenge with other schools in our cluster (Fordell, Mangamahu, Okoia, Upokongaro and Whangaehu). The Tuia Challenge provides an opportunity for students to develop their leadership skills, set goals and to tackle new challenges. Each year there are two physical challenges, a school based community service project and a set of school projects.
A phoneme is the smallest unit of spoken sound (e.g., the /k/ sound in "cat") that distinguishes one word from another, with English having approximately 44. A grapheme is the written representation of a phoneme, which can be a single letter (e.g., 's') or a cluster of letters (e.g., 'sh', 'igh', 'ough').
The Maths practice website is for Years 3-8, offering quick access to hundreds of activities based on Maths in the New Zealand Curriculum.
Using the Maths practice site
You can use the website to help your child practise what they have learned in the past year.
It’s best to work together on the year level your child has just finished at school, not the year they're about to start.
After your child completes each question or puzzle, you will see a summary page suggesting next steps.
You can use the Maths practice site on your tablet, laptop or phone.
The Maths practice website is a pilot that will run for 6 months to help gauge interest.
Activities
At the moment, you can practise number problems, working with money, grouping to count larger quantities, and multiplying and dividing whole numbers. By the end of January there will be even more activities, covering:
fractions
decimals and percentages
ratios
rounding and estimation
squared and cubed numbers
powers
roots
multiples and factors.
